What the course covers

This course builds on the TOGAF® Standard by focusing on its practical application and deepening the knowledge gained at the Foundation level. Participants will learn how to execute the full ADM cycle in practice, manage stakeholders, handle change management, and apply requirements management along with supporting techniques. It is designed for those who want to apply the TOGAF® Framework in real organizational environments and prepare for the Practitioner-level certification. The two-day (2×8 hours) program is an officially accredited training by The Open Group, fully meeting international requirements.

Course goals

Why is it useful to obtain the TOGAF® Enterprise Architecture – Practitioner level?
The TOGAF® standard is an internationally recognized enterprise architecture framework that enables organizations to align their business, IT, and technology goals through a structured, system-level approach. Further information about the TOGAF® Standard » The Practitioner level builds on the Foundation level, teaching how to apply the standard in practice and how to tailor the ADM to the specific needs of an organization. Syllabus

0. Introduction to the Course
The Practitioner-level course aims to help participants understand the role of enterprise architecture in organizational operations, how it fits into the TOGAF® certification system, and what skills they will acquire. The session provides an overview of the exam structure, assessment method, and course flow. It also covers the prerequisites for introducing an EA capability, the link between change management and governance, and the role of the method in agile and other development environments.
1. The Context for Enterprise Architecture
Explains the strategic importance of enterprise architecture and the scope of the TOGAF® standard. Covers how EA integrates into organizational operations, the prerequisites for its adoption, and how it supports the alignment of business and IT objectives. Describes the architecture levels, the relationship between EA and governance, and how to address compliance considerations.
2. Stakeholder Management
Covers the methods for identifying, categorizing, and managing stakeholders. Describes how to capture their expectations and communication needs, integrate them into ADM phases, and ensure continuous project support. Includes stakeholder analysis, defining viewpoints, and creating communication plans.
3. Architecture Vision
Details the purpose of the Architecture Vision phase, the sequence of tasks, and the desired outcomes. Includes defining the project scope, engaging relevant stakeholders, applying business scenarios, and documenting the fundamental objectives. Reviews outputs of this phase, such as the Architecture Vision document, the Architecture Work Statement, and the communications plan.
4. Architecture Development (Business, Data, Application, and Technology Architectures)
Explains the purpose and activities of the Business, Data, Application, and Technology Architecture phases. Covers the use of content metamodels and viewpoints, managing building blocks, and aligning business and technology aspects. Also addresses integrating risk and security considerations. Shows how these phases fit into the overall ADM logic.
5. Implementing the Architecture
Covers the objectives of Phases E and F: planning and governing the implementation. Includes creating roadmaps and work packages, defining schedules and resource needs, and managing necessary changes during implementation. Also discusses developing implementation and transition architectures.
6. Architecture Change Management
Covers Phase H: maintaining the viability of the architecture and responding to evolving business, technology, and environmental needs. Addresses identifying, assessing, and incorporating changes, as well as ensuring continuous improvement.
7. Requirements Management
Explains the full lifecycle of requirements within the ADM. Covers identifying, tracking, prioritizing, and adapting requirements as changes occur. Shows how to ensure alignment between requirements and the final architecture.
8. Supporting the ADM Work
Reviews supplementary methods and tools that support the practical application of the ADM. Includes risk management, gap analysis, capability planning, use of the Architecture Content Framework, and the roles of the Enterprise Continuum and the Architecture Repository.
